The Stotesbury Mansion was built in 1870 by architect Wilson Eyre Jr., and is now a permanent Philadelphia landmark. In 1890, one of the wealthiest Philadelphians of this time, Edward T. Stotesbury, purchased the establishment to add to his own residence. After extensive renovations, Mr. Stotesbury was married in this mansion. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Morgan and President Taft. Later on, a Philopatrian purchased the estate and since 1992, they have been allowing outside events to be held at the Stotesbury Mansion.
There is a lot of options within the mansion itself that you can choose from. The Ceremonies space is honestly the most picturesque place to hold the wedding itself. The decor is so regal and is complete with columns and large chandeliers - a perfect backdrop on your big day. It is attached to a huge ballroom that allows a lot of guests and leave plenty of room for dancing!
In addition to rooms for the ceremony, Stotesbury Mansion has a Bride's Room where the party can get ready for the wedding. There is also a mirror room and bar which is an awesome location for unique wedding photos.
With the location, we love recommending a dress we carry at Philadelphia Bridal Company. Since Stotesbury Mansion is such an elegant venue, we think this Pronovias Albania ball gown is the perfect match. It does not shy away from drama and certainly makes a statement! If you are interested in this dress, make an appointment at our store to come in and try it on!
